Memory card readers are great for transferring data to and from your computer

Most electronic devices such as digital cameras, mp3 players, and digital photo frames available today use flash memory cards for storing the digital audio, video and/or photos of the individual digital unit. Although you can connect any of your digital devices directly to your computer to transfer the digital data to and from the memory card, you can save time and battery power by using a separate memory card reader.

Easy Data Transfer

Memory card readers do one thing, and do it well. They transfer data to and from a computer’s hard drive, or to and from other flash memory cards. If you use memory cards regularly, then a memory card reader is a good investment. Most memory card readers accommodate the most common digital memory card formats, with some of the higher end models having slots for all the available types of memory cards.

The memory card reader is connected to your computer either via the USB port or is configured as an internal computer drive. The memory card readers appear to your computer’s operating system as an external drive, similar to a CD-ROM drive. You can transfer your digital media just by dragging and dropping files, the same way you copy and move any other files on your computer.

The great thing about a memory card reader is that when you make your next digital device purchase (ie. a digital photo frame), you don’t have to be restricted to buying the digital photo frame that has the same memory card format as your digital camera, instead, you can focus on the features and benefits of the digital photo frame, and if you end up using two different memory cards, then the memory card reader will be your ideal accessory.
