Photo Kiosks: a fast and easy solution for printing digital photos

Many stores now have self-service digital photo kiosks that allow you to print your digital photos, burn your digital images onto CDs, and e-mail or upload images to various websites. With some photo kiosks, you can even order gift items such as T-shirts, mugs, and calendars. All of this right from your digital camera's memory card or photo CD.

Digital photo kiosks are now found everywhere: in photo stores, photo labs, copy shops, airports, and even supermarkets and superstores. These self service kiosks have slots for various type of memory cards and CDs, and allow you to easily order photos from your digital images by using a touch screen. Once you insert your memory card or photo CD, you can order an index print, or view all the images on the media.

Edit and order your photos

Most photo kiosks also have editing capability allowing you to zoom, crop, fix Red-Eye, and rotate your digital photos. You then place an order. Either the order is sent to the store's photo processing counter or the photo kiosk itself will have a self-contained printer that prints your digital images right there.

If the photo kiosk is self contained, the kiosk pictures will likely be just glossy finish prints, but if the order is sent to the photo processing counter, you will be able to choose from a variety of finishes when you are placing the print order.

Now when you're traveling and running out of room on your digital camera's memory card, have a look around the next town or airport you get to, and chances are very good that you'll find a photo kiosk somewhere close by. You can burn a copy of all your digital photos onto a CD, pack it away safely in your suitcase, and with your newly emptied memory card, start capturing more memories!
